Living in the Southwest has its perks: Gorgeous open skies, free microdermabrasion breezes, dancing tumbleweeds, antilopes, and cactuses, are but a few.

The contrast from my current home compared to where I grew up, in the Southeastern tropics of Mexico, is mind-blowing. In the jungle, you can't see but a few paces in some instances; unlike the high plains where there seems to be no end in sight.

I do miss the Rainforest, but I have found a new love in the industrial energy sculptures that surround the Permian Basin. Though they were not hewn from stone by an artist's hand inspired by a muse, they have a beauty all of their own.

Whether it be the nodding donkeys (known as pumpjacks) or the modern giant fans, moving with the very wind it converts to electricity, true beauty is found rooted in ingenuity. Powering the World from the middle of nowhere.
